Medical VR: Industry Analysis and Applications : Jonathan Avila – Core Simulations

The global Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality in the healthcare market is poised to grow at around 17.8% in the next 5 years to reach approximately $1.45 billion by 2020. According to the “Immersive media: A state of the industry” May 2017 publication, healthcare is currently one of the most fertile and rapidly growing areas of VR and AR. Use cases include surgery assistance, remote diagnostics, surgery simulation, phobia treatment, phantom limb pain (PLP) treatment, robotic surgery, data visualization, and skills training. For the session I will be speaking about Core Simulations, an early-stage digital healthcare company that utilizes Virtual Reality to improve patient compliance and lower re-admittance rates for physical therapy clinics. I will also be covering an industry analysis of VR healthcare and the current players/applications in the market.
