Augmented Reality Examples – Hololens Military Contract Creates Rift at Microsoft

Microsoft employees are unhappy with Hololens Tactical Augmented Reality military contract. Military augmented reality is a growing defense contractor industry, but some at Microsoft to not want to become war profiteers. Here's a real world example of Augmented Reality going to the dark side of technology. #AugmentedRealityExamples #MilitaryAugmentedReality #DarkSideOfTechnology

Navy Augmented Reality Trauma Training

What if medics could save the lives of military personnel without ever stepping foot in combat zones? Using HoloLens technology, medical professionals can telementor Sailors in the event of traumatic injury—saving lives in a whole new way.

Augmented Reality to the rescue | Rotem Bashi | TEDxTelAviv

www.tedxtelaviv.com Augmented reality technology can reduce the gap between our physical and digital realities in many aspects of our lives. There’s also no limit to the possibilities of this technology in military training and battlefield operations. Major Rotem Bashi demonstrated some intriguing examples of how augmented reality technology will change warfare. Maj. Rotem Bashi is a department manager at the elite technological unit "Mazpen" of IDF C4I directorate. Maj. Bashi is a leading entrepreneur in technological innovation at the IDF. Maj. Bashi seeks for combinations of operational needs and disruptive technologies (like Augmented Reality). This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

ARC4 – head mounted display for soldiers

The ARA-developed ARC4 is outdoor on-the-move augmented reality (AR) technology that delivers heads-up situational awareness to the dismounted warfighter. Rather than looking down at a 2D map or smartphone device, the soldier sees virtual icons (e.g., navigation waypoints, blue forces, aircraft) overlaid on his real-world view. ARC4 is an AR fusion engine that incorporates advanced head tracking sensors and algorithms, network management software, and an intuitive user interface to overlay iconic information on the user’s environment. ARC4 integrates with daytime see-through displays and night-vision goggles. ARC4 enables leap-ahead AR applications in: Defense: Presents heads-up tactical information for on-the-move operations Consumer Products: Object tagging and sharing for social networks Team Coordination: Shared awareness for emergency response Logistics & Operations: Tracking assets, personnel, and tasks for worksites Immersive Training and Gaming: Virtual avatars and effects embedded with live operations. http://www.bssholland.com/product/heads-up-on-the-move-augmented-reality/

US Military’s Futuristic Augmented Reality Battlefield – Augmented Immersive Team Trainer (AITT)

Augmented Immersive Team Trainer (AITT) from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) allows Marines to transform any location into a dynamic training ground by injecting virtual images, indirect fire effects, aircraft, vehicles, simulated people, etc., onto a real-world view of one's surroundings. AITT is an augmented reality training system that integrates with the U.S. Marine Corps’ ground combat team training instrumentation system, Instrumented Tactical Engagement Simulation System (ITESS II) to display virtual indirect fire effects, aircraft, vehicles, and/or role players onto actual terrain. Advanced software algorithms and multiple sensors accurately determine the trainee’s viewpoint. A head-worn display and an enhanced instructor station drives the training content, providing virtual indirect fire, munitions effects, aircraft, and targets inserted into the real world view.
