There are two computing headset camps right now: virtual reality headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and augmented reality headsets like Microsoft’s HoloLens.
At Microsoft’s Windows 10 event on Wednesday, the company announced a handful of new hardware partners that will be producing affordable “mixed reality” headsets that support virtual reality and augmented reality, starting at $299.
Partners already signed up to build the VR/AR headsets include HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and Asus.
