Now that the 2019 Game Developers Conference (GDC) is in full swing it can be tough to keep track of everything. Each day is jam-packed full of announcements and as we get the time to go hands-on with everything we’ve got impressions and news stories coming out extremely quickly.
You can let this article serve as your one-stop shop for links to everything we’ve written about GDC 2019 to date. We’ll try to keep it updated within 24 hours of a story posting, but you should check the GDC tag or the UploadVR homepage for real-time updates on all current GDC stories.
Day 1: Monday 18th March
- Beat Saber announced as Oculus Quest launch title: the most popular and widely known VR game to date will be available on day 1 for the $399 standalone headset
- HTC launched finger tracking for Vive and Vive Pro in a free SDK, as well as gesture tracking for Vive Focus
- OpenXR was provisionally released, letting developers make apps that work across all VR hardware
- NVIDIA claimed that their GeForce NOW streaming service will one day support VR on headsets such as the Vive Focus Plus 5G version
Day 2: Tuesday 19th March
- HP Reverb announced: a $599 2K per eye Windows PC VR headset with a focus on comfort, using the Windows MR 2 camera inside-out tracking system
- Pico Neo 2 announced: a Viveport M standalone headset that can also wirelessly connect to your Pc
- Pimax releases an ASW-like feature as well as static foveated rendering, to improve performance of their headsets
- Angry Birds announced for PSVR and ARKit
- Nreal announced announced a partnership to bring games to its upcoming lightweight AR glasses
- HTC hosts its third annual Viveport Developer awards, with Apex Construct taking home the prize in the PC Entertainment section
Day 3: Wednesday 20th March
- Oculus Rift S announced: an update of the Oculus Rift with higher resolution, better lenses, 5 camera inside-out tracking, and a PSVR-like halo strap design. We went hands on with the headset and found it makes small but important steps.
- Journey Of The Gods announced: an Oculus Rift & Quest action-adventure RPG from the developers of Left 4 Dead
- Dead and Buried 2 announced: an Oculus Rift & Quest multiplayer FPS sequel to the Touch launch title
- We went hands on with Stormland, a Rift exclusive open world procedurally generated adventure from Insomniac Games
- We went hands on with Asgard’s Wrath, a Rift exclusive 30+ hour Norse-inspired RPG
