Baobab’s Bonfire Is Coming To PSVR

Baobab’s fifth animated VR project, Bonfire, is coming PlayStation VR after an initial launch back in May on the Oculus Quest and Rift.

The animated project first debuted at Tribeca Film Festival early this year, before making its way onto Oculus headsets. The VR animation focuses on narrative and interaction and stars stand-up comedian and actor Ali Won. She plays your AI companion, Debbie, who keeps you company around the eponymous bonfire after you crash-land on a planet 300 light years away from earth.

In Jamie’s review back in May, he found the experience offered a good sense of storytelling and interaction, but not without its flaws. “Interactions here are charming to no end but also feel somewhat limited in scope,” he said. “Bonfire is brilliant but brief, and I wanted to explore more of the world around me and spend more time with the friends I’d made.”

That being said, he also found the narrative witty, sharp and well-paced, with a good performance from Wong.

The game will launch on PSVR next week on October 22, with a launch-week discount. The price for the PSVR version is not yet apparent, but it is currently only $5 for the Quest and Rift versions on the Oculus store, after an initial launch price of $10 back in May.
