HTC Vive Pro’s improved performance will bring about increased demands on your PC. As such, the company recently upped its recommended specs for running the headset.
As spotted by Road to VR, HTC yesterday changed its original PC recommended specs, which matched those of the standard Vive. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card originally listed has been switched around for the more powerful 1070. The 1060 does remain in the new minimum specs listing, though, so you’ll still be able to run the headset with the older hardware, you just might not get the same performance out of it.

According to Road, HTC changed the specs following tests from Nvidia itself. The minimum spec also requires a USB 3.0 port and switches HDMI video out for DisplayPort 1.2 or newer. In terms of operating systems, meanwhile, Windows 7 has been removed, leaving just Windows 8.1 and 10.
The Vive Pro offers 3K display resolution, giving VR apps increased fidelity, though PCs will need to use more computing power to measure up to it. The headset is launching next week for $799 as a standalone package for existing Vive owners.
