This ARKit App Allows For Digital Finger Painting

The latest exciting new use of Apple’s ARKit allows for a little finger painting without any of the mess.

Developer Osama Abdel-Karim shared this intriguing new use of the AR platform with UploadVR. It’s a digital finger painting app that uses basic gesture recognition to allow users to draw on surfaces like tables or objects like paper. Check it out in the video below, which shows the user also grabbing his finished drawing and pulling it upwards to instantly make a 3D model. Abdel-Karim explained the work that went into the app and released its source code on his own blog.

ARKit will be arriving for consumers with this fall’s launch of iOS 11. We’re excited to see what happens when people finally get their hands on it.
