Wipeout VR’s Release Is ‘So Close You Can Smell It’

It looks like PSVR players will get their hands on the highly-anticipated Wipeout VR update very, very soon.

Responding to one fan on Twitter, Sony’s XDev Europe account noted that the release of the patch for the Wipeout Omega Collection was “so close you can smell it.” No other details were teased but, given the game was promised for early 2018, we’re hoping to see it within the next few weeks.

So close you can see and smell it

The VR support was first announced at Sony’s PlayStation Experience event in late 2017. Arriving as a free update, it will allow players to race around every track in the game — which itself collects content from Wipeout HD, Wipeout HD Fury and Wipeout 2048 — inside the cockpit of your futuristic race vehicle.

Needless to say we’re very excited to see how this one turns ou, though we were already impressed with it when we went hands-on. We’ll have full coverage of the game once the patch is live.
