Under the rocket’s red glare and the bombs bursting in air, the Statue of Liberty is swaying in celebration this Fourth of July thanks to Snapchat.
On Thursday, Snapchat launched a new augmented reality experience to commemorate Independence Day for those at or in the vicinity of Liberty Island in New York City. Using its new Landmarker Lens technology, the Snapchat camera can detect the presence of the monument and bring it to life. When the Lens is activated, the statue, clad in an American flag, will begin rocking back and forth beneath virtual fireworks.
