Google’s latest Spotlight Story, Back to the Moon, is not one to be missed.

A collaboration among Google Spotlight Stories, Nexus Studios, Google Doodle and Google Arts and Culture, Back to the Moon celebrates the work of Georges Méliès, a legendary French illusionist and film director best known for his groundbreaking 1902 movie, A Trip to the Moon. As you might have guessed, there’s a fitting sense of VR coming full circle here.

Lasting just over two minutes, the piece follows an animated Méliès on a charming adventure that pays tribute to his body of work from clever illusions to nods to some of his iconic imagery.

If you want to watch the piece in VR then you can load it up via Google’s free Spotlight Stories app on Daydream or just find it on the YouTube iOS/Android app on your smartphone, tap the headset icon and then place your phone into your mobile-based headset of choice.
